I enjoyed an amazing evening with friends at Wisteria Farm and Vineyard for their 5 year Anniversary Celebration. The perfect weather, the live reggae music and the fantastic wines made for a memorable evening for everyone!
Upon arrival Saturday, I noticed quite a few bikes on cars and realized that some participants of the Luray Triathlon made their way to Wisteria to enjoy some great wine and music under the arbor. Once inside the tasting room I was greeted by Sue; one of the owners and a couple of her tasting room attendants who helped me to choose my wine of choice for the evening. After sampling several of their creations, I decided on the “Ashtaroot” which was a blend from 2013. Suited my pallet perfectly! I also had a little of the “Velvet” which seemed to be a favorite of many of my friends.
I then made my way out to the members patio where I was greeted by several folks I know. We laughed and talked and met new guests as they arrived. The crowd continued to build before the music got started. At 5:00 p.m. we were surrounded with the wonderful sounds of Island Reggae music by Greg Ward. I had never heard him play before but he was fantastic. It really made it feel like a party!
I then wandered around snapping some photos of all the guests enjoying some great wine and music. Everyone seemed to be relaxed and happy, enjoying the wonderful atmosphere Sue and Moussa have created on the property.
Before heading back to the B&B which is less than 10 minutes from Wisteria, my friend John asked if I had toured the vineyard. So with wine in one hand and camera in the other we walked the property with the many free range chickens and several sheep that call Wisteria home. It was a beautiful property shadowed by the Blue Ridge Mountains. The evening sun glistened on the grapes hanging abundantly from the vines. What a perfect evening here in the valley.
Thank you, Sue and Moussa Ishak for providing us with a magical vineyard right here in our back yard. I can’t wait to return next month for the harvest!! Be sure and check out their website for upcoming events so you too can enjoy great wine and beautiful scenery right here in the Shenandoah Valley!!!!
